About our company
Dark Magic Design, LLC became a Colorado corporation in early 2019 as a potential backstop for a high risk employment situation. I’ve held the domain “darkmagicdesign.com” for probably close to a decade prior to 2019. In mid-2021, I decided it was time to re-focus Dark Magic Design (DMD) on professional pursuits. DMD is principally focused on development of select Open Source hardware/firmware projects, with no particular revenue targets at this time.
We’re working on a few projects. They will likely never bear much direct fruit, but my motivations are clearly discussed on the relevant project pages.
Vehicle Monitoring and Control System (VMaCS)
We’re currently developing an OSHW (Open Source Hardware) licensed vehicle monitoring and control system.
FPGA Formal Verification
In my spare time, I’m working on developing background in formal verification of VHDL. I’m focused on using Open Source solutions to this problem (GHDL, OSVVM, UVVM, etc).
SDRNoC
I’m also working on a formally validated SDR framework that is intended to be a bit FPGA agnostic (at least for now!).
Open Source IP Cores
In addition to the SDRNoC framework, I have plans to develop more than a few useful utility cores. All will be formally verified. All will be developed in VHDL.
